Unprosperous Relationships
If I am going to build something good and happy, I should understand what materials need to be used. Stolen, unclean, cursed, decrepit, godless, worm-eaten, crumbly, flammable, close to death in no way is suitable for laying the foundation and erecting walls.
Romantic relationships can turn my head and begin to govern my feelings. But any holiday eventually comes to an end. My eyes open, and I understand that I am naked and have sinned. Then the desire to hide from God appears.
Common sense and biblical warnings very often prompt me to moments that I will not be able to see immediately. It is important to note that the advice of experienced people who have close relationships with Jesus carries power and blessings.
Friendly connections are good in themselves. They bring joy to the heart and fill my life with meaning when they do not contradict God's will and do not deprive me of freedom.
There is that category of people and relationships that will never be successful and will not bring blessings into life. Although the Lord can turn everything to good and teach me something through my mistakes, it is still necessary to be prudent before starting to build or plan something.
Once I was talking with my friend, Olga (name changed), who fell in love with a man who came to her city to work from another country. This person met Olya and communicated with her a lot, opening his heart and admiring his new girlfriend. She fell in love with this man and dreamed of always being near him. But soon Olya learned that this guy was married in his homeland and had a child. She was shocked, but did not want to leave the man. She felt so good and comfortable with him! She had never experienced this before. Olya was ready for him and romantic relationships to abandon her principles, lose her virginity, abandon all her friends, leave the church, but something held her back, and she asked for help, somewhere understanding that everything was going wrong. I talked with her for a long time, giving different arguments and reasoning, trying to explain that these relationships would have no prospects. Olya understood this, but said that she loved her friend and wanted to be near him in her "good." To all my attempts to explain something, she agreed with my words, but immediately declared that she wanted to always be near this person. When we parted, I prayed for Olya for a long time, understanding that only the Lord is able to destroy the spell of this seduction and change something. Soon I learned that they parted, but the wound in Olya's soul was too deep for what happened to be simply forgotten.
A person who is married is in no way suitable for creating a family. No matter how comfortable and romantic it is for you to ride in someone else's car, investing all your money and your time in it, this vehicle does not belong to you and will not bring the happiness that you dream of finding.
Friendship does not set boundaries in the category of our relationships, but I should define boundaries where they are needed. Communicating with representatives of the other sex, I am not against friendly relations, but I always make corrections, saying that I love my wife and proceeding from this I can continue to be friends. I do not wear a wedding ring and to avoid misunderstanding I immediately try to inform all new people of my status. This helps and protects.
Also, if I am married, even in an unsuccessful marriage, it is not worth planning a better family with more promising relationships. Such a union has no good future, and it will not receive any blessings.
The enemy of the soul will always try to seduce my mind, offering something dangerous in beautiful packaging of romance and infatuation. It is worth fighting such thoughts at the very beginning, as soon as they come to mind. Jesus warned that even a lustful look is a sin in God's eyes, not to mention actions.
Also, one should not bind one's life with a person who is divorced not due to adultery on the other side. You can plan something common with someone who had a family, in case this person was widowed, and the death of the other half made him free for marriage. There are no prohibitions here, but there is no need to hurry either.
Violation of marital fidelity also takes place in our society, and such a lifestyle is widely advertised in films and has an influence on people who are married. This is a sin unto death. Therefore, before even admitting such a thought into my mind, it is worth thinking whether I need to die and lose Eternity for the sake of momentary pleasure.
I know very many cases when believers left families and the church precisely for this reason.
God's principles regarding marital fidelity have not changed one iota. Although our attitude has become more liberal toward such people and their actions, this does not cancel God's law, and sin does not bring blessings and happiness into life, although it can provide pleasure and look romantic.
Relationships and creating a family with someone who has vices have no prospects. We all sometimes sin and can fall and make mistakes, but the Lord is able to correct this. When a person has a sinful addiction, even considering himself a believer, it is necessary to stay away from him and not plan serious relationships, and if there are already some plans, and the sin of this candidate for marriage union was revealed to you, then you should run from him as from fire.
I saw one video where at a gas station as a result of an accident, gasoline spilled all over the territory. People walked through this puddle and did not even think what mortal danger it represented until it all flared up with bright flames. After this, everyone died in the fire. Do you want to build your life on a powder keg that will definitely explode?
If you are already married to such a person, then after you believed, other laws come into force, and God takes under protection all who make a covenant with Him. However, creating a family with people addicted to sin is a very risky enterprise. Run from such candidates. Sin will not die in your marriage, but will grow and be established, wanting to consume you too.
What is the vice that your chosen one might be infected with? I will give some examples: alcohol, sexual, pornographic, drug addictions, passion for games, smoking, evil temper, envy, pride, foul language, deception, gluttony, idolatry, unbelief, lack of living interest in prayer and knowledge of God's will, rudeness, desire to enter into close relationships before marriage and other things of this spirit. Turn to the law and revelation, and the Lord in their light will reveal everything.
A vice is that sin which controls the will of a person and constantly beckons him to repeat the same evil action. God is able to destroy any addiction. But make sure that this has already happened, and the person is established in Christ and has gained victory.
If I choose as my life companion a "rake," I should not hope that they will lie peacefully under my feet. Rakes know how to hurt very much, even when you do not expect it at all.
