The Lord in Our Love
Is it possible to create a family without God's blessing? It is possible, but with blessing it is better. And is it possible to eat food without praying? It is possible, but with prayer it is better. And is it possible to arrange your life without God? It is possible, but with God it is safer and more interesting. And is it possible to inherit Eternal Life without faith in Jesus Christ? It is possible, but with the prefix "im." And is it possible to build Eternal relationships with someone, but without God? You can call it that, but these will be earthly and temporary relationships.
If you imagine Eternity without God, it will be incessant darkness and languishing of the spirit. But such, fortunately, is impossible.
I have seen many times how families are created, how newlyweds declare their consent to become husband and wife. First, according to the law of the country, they declare this at the registry office. And then, if they want, they ask for God's blessing on their marriage before the face of their church, giving each other a marriage vow and a promise of marital fidelity.
After such events, two people are declared husband and wife, and the whole society considers their union a family with all the ensuing rights and responsibilities.
And why is it necessary to ask for God's blessing on the union of two people? After all, they love each other, and everything is fine with them. I know Uncle Vanya, who lived happily with Aunt Anya without God, and they lived in perfect harmony. Why is a wedding in church needed?
And someone decided that a family should not be created either, because the main thing is to love each other, so you can live together without registration. And it is enough to briefly inform God about your intentions, which, in general, is optional.
I think that believers immediately heard the catch in these questions and statements. As for marriage, in church society it is customary to organize everything with God's blessing. And this is correct.
But what about friendship and love? I want to have a friend, but I don't have one. I ask the Lord to send me such a person, and the Lord answers. Someone who is close to my heart appears in my life. I can receive him immediately, or I can wait for years. But here he appeared and became mine. And what next? Do we go to ask for God's blessing on our friendship and do we bring before the face of the whole church solemn oaths that we will be faithful friends until death separates us? I have not yet experienced such a miracle of friendship. Imagine how this would look! Two brothers go up on stage or a brother with a sister, or two sisters, and the pastor before the face of all parishioners solemnly asks: "Dear brother Vanya, do you agree in joy and in sorrow, in health and in sickness, in poverty and in wealth to take brother Petya as a friend and love him all your life until death separates you?", and after mutual "Yes. Yes!" they are declared lawful friends. How do you like that? Why are you laughing? After all, serious decision-making is happening. This amuses us simply because it is not customary and looks foolish in our eyes. I do not suggest that you practice such a thing, but let's consider this question in more detail.
Why is blessing on a family needed? So that this earthly decision would be bound also in Heaven, so that God could lead and direct this union, had the right to interfere and correct those who err, could work miracles and teach two different people to respect the opinion and choice of another and do much so that life would be happy.
Even unbelieving people understand that it is better to live with God's blessing. They are sometimes ready to pay money so that someone would pray for them and bless them before God. The Lord respects people's choices and gladly participates in their happiness. Jesus performed His first miracle at a marriage feast, turning water into a useful drink. The Lord loves to bless those who lawfully ask for this.
And how does friendship differ from marriage? After all, this is also a union of two sides, two hearts that have decided to dedicate their lives to each other, spend time with each other, solve common problems, do different things, have cognitive communication and friendly relationships.
Do these friends know how to be friends? Did anyone teach them this at school? Or were they already born with a step-by-step friendship program in their head, and now they will implement it in practice? And where does the carnal nature go when two egoists decide on joint friendship? It probably dies from despair and fear and ceases to have strength and power over friendly hearts?
I know some verses about friends, which say: "If a friend turned out suddenly, and not a friend and not an enemy, but so... don't scold him, chase him away...". The world quickly picks up such statements and successfully practices them. And if you were rejected once, then the second and third time will not be long in coming. And the heart reacts in its own way and closes for a long time or forever. Everyone is busy searching for real friends, and if someone does not meet this requirement, then he can be pushed aside and search for another. And do you know where real friends are produced? Share this "fishing spot" with us too.
The truth is that we do not know how to be friends and be friends, but we can learn this.
God's blessing on any friendship and any relationship will never be superfluous, and it will never be foolish to ask God to teach this and bless me in my decision to be friends.
But let's go further. The Lord commanded us not only to be friends, but also to love one another. Shall we again imagine a pastor who blesses us for mutual love? No, we won't?
But should we pray about this love, even if we have decided to love each other? Should we ask a friend whether he loves me? Or should we only guess about this, or consider it self-evident?
Prayer for blessing on love for a friend and for mutual love will never be superfluous. Love for one another is a union of two sides for all life with continuation in Eternity. I bind myself with bonds of love forever, to learn this here and then practice it all endless ages. I am very interested in comprehending such a science, and it is new to me. I was not born with such knowledge. I need One who knows how to love and can teach me this.
I ask for God's blessing on my love and friendship. The Lord hears this prayer and answers it. It is based on His Word, where He commanded us to love this way. Without Him all my attempts to love will turn into failure. And with Him I will have blessing in agape. And if my friend asks for the same, then our common cause, bound by us on earth, will be bound also in Heaven. And we will receive an answer from the Heavenly Father. And if we are gathered in love in the name of Jesus, then He will be in the midst of us. I, my friend and Jesus. We love each other and create from ourselves a strong triangle of love, becoming a strong structure for solid construction of God's structures.
Inviting Jesus into our love, I protect this union from various false accusations and attempts to destroy it. The Lord knows how we need to be protected, and holds firmly in His hand, so that no one steals us.
And we pray to God and proceed to studying each other, rejoicing that the Lord is with us. Is it possible to be friends and love without prayer about this? It is possible, but I don't know for how long. And in eternal relationships the Eternal God must be present. After all, He Himself taught that without Him we can do nothing. (John 15:5). And without Him it is not interesting.
