A Letter to My Future Husband
One of the students of the Agape School of Love, having discovered many truths and accepted many principles into her life, decided to write a letter to her future husband. This message is purely her personal opinion and may differ from your worldview.
I share this writing with you, wishing that every husband someday would receive something like this.
“My dear, beloved person called husband. I am so happy that I became your wife and can now spend my whole life taking care of you, doing everything possible to make it good, cozy, joyful, and warm for you with me. Now, as I write these lines, I still do not know you, you have not yet appeared in my life or paid attention to me. I know nothing about you—where you are from, what your name is—but I will call you ‘beloved.’ I know that you exist and are looking for me, and I am not hiding. I know that you are praying for me, and the Lord is preparing me so that at the right time He will give you a gift and turn your attention to me. And I will at that time quietly look at you and pray softly, trying to understand whether you are the answer to my prayers, and listen with my heart if you are the man from the Lord.
I have decided that I will never marry someone who has not first married Christ. Forgive me for watching you closely for a long time, trying to understand what relationship you have with my Savior.
I am so glad that we became friends before having any thoughts about family, and in this friendship we made many important discoveries about each other. If you had not first become my friend, I would not have accepted any proposal from you.
I really like the story of Ruth and especially her marriage vow from Ruth 1:16-17: ‘…do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die, I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts me from you.’
I learned it by heart and now I am going to tell you the same thing but already from my own name. You are my husband and I am your wife. Where you go, I will go. I will be your sail on our ship, and you will be my captain with whom I will pass through all storms and calm waters. It is so joyful that we will now always be together and I can delight your heart every day.
I love you so much, my dear beloved husband. I am so happy that you chose me and proposed to me to be your other half!
Although I have many expectations and I have already voiced them before our wedding, I am still very interested in how you will build our relationship and how I will help you in this.
I really want you to always love me, even when you are too busy for me. I understand that this must be voluntary and from the heart, but still I ask you to love me always. For me this is the most important thing. And I promise that I will return to you much more of this love than you imagine. And I already love you, my dear beloved person. I constantly pray about this and learn to love you before you appear in my life.
In my love you can be free and do what God leads you to do. I will always respect your choice and give you the right to make mistakes. I will not judge you for your wrong decisions but will be your support and your rear guard. For me you will always be the best, and I will always learn to love and accept you as you are.
Now I am studying psychology and the structure of men’s thinking and marvel at how different you are. And it is this difference that most attracts me to you. I am now acquiring the necessary knowledge to later serve you with it.
I anticipate the time when I will be able to embrace you and reveal to you all the secrets of my love for you, without expecting anything in return. Be yourself, and I will accept you and adapt to you.
And I also dream of learning more about you, studying your heart, discovering for myself the beauty of your soul, which you so well hide from curious superficial people.
Thank you for choosing me from the whole world. I am so grateful to you for your choice. I think it was the best decision that changed your life.
Now I am learning at the feet of Jesus to love—to love every person and even my enemies. But my thoughts always return to you, my beloved friend, and I understand that it is precisely love for you that will open much more to me and will be for you the greatest blessing you could not even dream of. I so want you to bathe in my love for you, and I will do everything to make it good for you. But I am only learning and do not imagine how this happens in life. Will you help me? Will you tell me what pleases you the most?
And I am also learning to cook healthy and tasty food so that you will receive through it everything necessary for your body, which at last has become mine. Remember that you are now mine, and all that is yours and mine is now considered ours. And I will share all your cares with you and give everything to Jesus so that it will be easier for us to live.
I have set myself to rejoice in you at all times, and now I am already learning this.
And I have also read that we, women, can change and be unpredictable. I so do not want to cause you inconvenience with this. Please be gracious to me if you see these changes. I will try to do everything to make you happy in my presence.
Oh, if only you knew how I rejoice that you will someday appear in my life. Such a good, dear friend.
I will never try to interfere with your personal relationship with God. This is the foundation of our family happiness, on which we can build something beautiful and strong. But I will support this spirit in my own life, having my own personal relationship with Jesus, and He will teach me to love you.
I already want to embrace you, my dear and beloved future husband. Even though now all these words of mine are conditioned by your appearance in this role, my feelings for you are already ready for the right actions. And I will keep all this only for you, as I keep my body.
And I also want to tell you that my personal relationship with God is more important to me than anything else in the world. Without Him I need nothing and no one. Forgive me, but if I lose this connection, I will not be able to give you anything good from what I described above. It is not I myself but He who moves me to give you these promises, to accept you as you are, and to love you even before you appeared. It is He who drew me to you, and I loved Him in you. I think you also immediately saw His image in me. I promise you that I will never leave my faith in Jesus and will be faithful to Him and to you in everything, expecting the same from you.
And now I take my Savior into our relationship and ask that He teach us to love each other, no longer only as friends but also as husband and wife. I do not yet know how to love you as my husband, but I will surely learn, for you are given to me for this—to become the training ground for my love.
I wonder what you are really like. Will you be the same as you were during our friendship? May the Lord help us.
I love you.”
