Глава 32

The Constancy of Family Happiness

In every endeavor, there are certain laws and characteristics that apply to all people. Any enterprise contains a sequence of so-called seasons and periods of trials. Family is the most interesting and most complex institution in the world. It cannot automatically endow its members with an abundance of happiness without the active participation of both partners in investing their strength, resources, and life energy into one another. And if we consider the fact that our world is full of things aimed at destroying family happiness, then we understand that constant resistance to the spirit of the world and vigilance are necessary.

Let us take as an example the construction of a cozy house in a harsh climate. In warm weather, one can build almost anything, and both inhabitants who love each other will feel warm and cozy in any dwelling, even without windows and doors. But the weather changes, the comfort is blown away by the first winds, cold sets in, and one must search for safe places in the home in order to somehow survive and not freeze. Often in such cases, the most beloved and closest person is blamed. But it is not their fault if the house was built incorrectly. And when there are obvious problems in a relationship, it is not necessary to look for someone to blame, but rather to find a solution to fix everything.

The purpose and meaning of building a cozy home is that it should be comfortable for everyone, always protecting from water and dampness, from winds and storms, from cold and heat, from thieves and unwanted visitors, and from prying eyes. This protection from external factors does not come by itself but is created through joint efforts and wise knowledge.

It should be noted that wisdom can be obtained from God, money can be earned or borrowed, children can be born and will somehow grow up, but if you or your partner lack common sense and a sober outlook on life’s difficulties, you will hardly be able to build something beautiful together.

Even in the worst house, one can arrange a cozy room just for oneself and be happy there in a way, but this will not make the whole house comfortable and safe. In building family happiness, conscious participation of both sides and their constant investment of themselves in each other’s happiness are required.

If I build strong walls from good material, and behind me my wife comes with a big sledgehammer and tests the strength of my walls, then I will have to dream long about something good while living in constant ruins. A home where an evil spirit has settled will never be cozy or safe.

God protects His children in any home and teaches them love and peace, surrounding them with His care. When all members of the family, in turn, have personal relationships with Heavenly powers, then the principles of Heavenly relationships will be prioritized in family life.

To make your life partner happy, you must find out what makes them so and begin to serve them from a pure heart, without violating your faithfulness to God. This requires perseverance, wisdom from above, and constancy. Love helps to have all these good qualities and promotes the continuous development of good relationships.

Our mood is our hormones, which live by their own laws and are released into the bloodstream under certain conditions. It is important to know and study your physiology and bring your life into harmony with the laws of nature.

If we decide to break circadian rhythms in our family, we will not avoid health problems.

We are what we eat. Our food must be not only tasty and attractive but also useful, and in recent times—safe as well.

The eight principles of a healthy lifestyle should not only be known but also accepted in the heart. If there is love in our relationships, it will cover everything, and even ignorance in matters of health will not destroy our attachment to one another. But it is better to be healthy and wealthy in this love than poor and sick.

Although my wife and I are one, we are still separate individuals who have freedom, their own worldview, and their own relationship with God and priorities in life. This should always be remembered and taken into account, respecting another’s opinion and choice. But our desire to build mutual happiness helps us find points of contact and move through life together in one direction.

We decided to bring into our home only that which will contribute to our development, education, happiness, and comfort, and not destroy our love. Communication helps us identify these points and jointly decide what to accept and keep, and what or who has no place in our home.

The happiness of our home completely depends on our personal relationship with our Savior and obedience to all God’s laws in the spirit of love and truth, without fanaticism or dictatorship. And the greatest danger to our family happiness is that something may appear in our lives that distracts our gaze from Christ and ties us to this world. The influence of the world on all of us is constant, and it longs to rush into our family and fill us with its garbage. Therefore, we desperately resist and set boundaries, asking God for help.

We decided not to have a television in our home, but the internet is a different matter. This is something we cannot completely exclude from our lives for now, but we understand that everything that comes into our home through it must be under the control of reason and the Holy Spirit so that we do not lose our connection with Heaven. Here we must be vigilant, constantly watchful, and prayerful.

Our prayer life also contributes to the building of happiness and gives God authority to change in our lives what we cannot. He warns us of danger and troubles our conscience when something goes wrong.

But the greatest thing the Lord gives us is His love in our love for each other. When, by Christ’s commandment, you love your wife, and she responds with the same spirit, then in such a relationship you can build many wonderful things and come to agreement on everything.

Love senses the mood of a life partner. It knows what they need and what they dislike. It constantly conquers new heights in personal relationships and helps to dive into the depths of the spouse’s soul, discovering oneself there and finding something useful for us. Love forms in us such relationships that can develop eternally and will never weary or disappoint us. You not only know your beloved friend but also feel their mood and understand their needs, striving to please them in everything.

And our mutual love comes from God and is given by Him so that, passing through our hearts, it may cleanse them from selfishness, fill them with happiness, and, as joyful praise, return to the One who so generously poured it into our lives.

We understand that yesterday’s experience is not enough for today, so each new day we build new relationships of love, happiness, and friendship, taking into account the valuable experience of past days. We invest ourselves in each other and in God so that in this union we may build something strong, cozy, and eternal. And we succeed.
