Who is Christ's Bride?

The Bible makes it clear that our Savior has a bride with whom He has planned a wedding celebration. There are many interpretations and assumptions about this topic that both delight us with their boldness and surprise us with their complexity. God is a God of order, and everything He does for our salvation can be understood and accepted.

There was a time when I was asked directly who Christ's bride is, with people expecting to hear a specific name of a group of people who would be worthy of this status. And I thought that the most suitable group for this was those who would enter the number of 144,000. I understand that the characteristics describing the righteousness of these people correspond to all of God's standards, and this last-time people will be unique in their spiritual purity and principled nature.

Considering that Christ's bride is a symbolic description of a new Heavenly status, before making any conclusions about this, it is worth understanding what this symbol means.

The entire structure of the unfallen Universe is built on the principle of family and family relationships, in which Deity is the Creator of all that exists, although in the description familiar to us, it is divided into Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And this division into ranks makes it clear that each Person of the Deity has a specific mission, and this Person carries out certain actions in governing the Universe, in creation, and in the salvation of humanity.

A wife or bride is a quite serious status, indicating the closeness of relationships that do not break during trials but are purified and become even stronger.

There are no divorces in Heaven. The decision to be husband and wife, which two close people make, becomes an Eternal union and is established for Eternal ages. The bride after the wedding ceremony is declared the wife of the Groom and becomes one flesh with Him.

Christ's bride is a conditional status in which not all who want to be a bride will find themselves, but only the chosen ones. I can be her, but because of my unfaithfulness, I can lose this honor.

Christ's wife is already an unconditional status that will never change and never lose its power. This also gives her the right to a special closeness with her Husband, which simply could not exist before the wedding. It is something that provides her full right to possess her Spouse. It is much more than can be imagined. But with this wife status and with all that it gives, she does not automatically receive her Husband's status and does not become equal to Him in power and authority. She is just a wife.

Already in the book of Isaiah, we read that the Lord Himself calls Himself a Spouse: "For your Maker is your husband— the Lord Almighty is his name— the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he will be called God of all the earth" (Isaiah 54:5). This is not just a suggestion, but God's statement when addressing His people.

Imagine what the saved from previous generations will feel, finding themselves at a wedding where only 144,000 will be getting married, and the rest will be just guests. I think that, as then, so now, many questions arise for Jesus, which are difficult to answer logically. Although the Groom Himself has the right to choose the one who suits Him in all respects, and no one will have envy or murmuring about this, there are inconsistencies in many directions, and it will be very difficult to understand many Biblical verses. One thing is clear in the description of Christ's bride: it is not one person, but a group of people.

Reading Revelation 21:9 and further, we see a symbolic description of the Lamb's bride as a city descending from God from Heaven. Houses and other soulless structures cannot be the Lamb's wife. In this case, He would not have needed to seek us and give His life for us. This is a symbol of the holy people of God, in whose heart the Lord Himself will dwell.

So who is Christ's bride, and can she be named in human language with a specific definition? Yes, she can. Christ's bride is the will of a saved and converted person, male and female. She is the bride whom the Lord loves very much and passionately desires to save from eternal destruction, making her His forever.

Understanding the question this way, a person sees that everything becomes clear, fair, logical, and interesting. It turns out that I, having entered the number of chosen and invited to the wedding celebration, simultaneously become both a guest and Christ's bride. My decoration at this celebration is pure and bright fine linen, which is the righteousness of the saints (Revelation 19:8-9).

I think that before performing the marriage ceremony of all saints with His Son, God the Father will ask a logical question to His beloved Son: "Are you willing, Jesus, to take your bride as your wife?" The Lamb will answer: "Yes, I am willing!"

Then the Father will address the will of each saved person from all ages: "Are you willing, bride of My Son, to become Christ's wife and be one with Him throughout endless eternity?" A short but very loud answer will follow from the lips of all redeemed by Christ's blood: "Yes, I am willing!" And there will not be a single soul that would say something opposite. After this, God the Father will raise His hands and announce us husband and wife to the entire Universe. And all heavenly beings will say: "Amen!!!"

Why can this wedding celebration not happen now? There is a great risk that my will, having free choice, will begin to be unfaithful to its Spouse and enter into extramarital relationships with the enemy of the soul, with the fallen world, or with my carnal old self. They are not against such a union, and it does not matter to them that I will be rejected by Christ and will suffer in such a position. While a war is going on around my will and my mind, the Lord tests each of us and prepares the faithful for Himself.

In the message to Laodicea, He announces the plan of victory for my will over this world and gives me a symbolic engagement ring as a guarantee on His part that He will be faithful in all His promises and I will receive what He offers.

The essence of the symbols from Revelation 3:18 is that if you give Me all of yourself, you will receive all of Me. Neither more nor less. Such trade is fair in any family relationships both before and after the wedding. What groom would want to deal with a bride who partially belongs to him and partially to someone else?

My will is already striving toward Christ and asking Him to become her Husband. He accepts such a decision and conditionally occupies this place, since a person's will cannot be unmarried. But now, while I live in the world, I have the opportunity to choose another husband, and the Lord respects this decision as well. Although I do not want anyone else with my mind, my heart very clearly speaks of my true feelings and attachments. And Jesus takes this into account.

But when all trials of my will have passed, and it proves to the entire Universe that it belongs to Christ and will not exchange Him for anyone even before the fire of trials and death, then the Lord will respond to the aspirations of my soul and embody all His dreams in this desired union, so that nothing will ever separate us again.

This will be an amazing event that our imperfect language is not able to describe, and our mind is not able to comprehend. And this marriage will certainly take place, and nothing unclean or false will enter into it.
